Jean Aicard [1848 - 1921] author of the famous trilogy Maurin des Maures was a great admirer of the countryside surrounding Collobrieres. I quote “These mountains deserve the close attention of wise men both for the geological composition of the rocks and the number of rare plants. They should also be visited by more humble, nature loving tourists”.

He was not wrong.
